The seventh Dr Kang story, the first in the series "The return of Dr Kang".
Dr Kang is playing golf with Inspector Tillot of the Sūreté, an old adversary, when they find the body of the course professional lying in a bunker, killed by a rifle shot. The chief suspect is M. Fleury, the retired professional who lives nearby and whose niece was in love with the dead man. In return for an amnesty for former crimes, Dr Kang agrees to share his knowledge of golf with the Inspector.
Canning was himself an enthusiastic amateur golfer.
